The NSF boss disclosed that through the
DSS, the federation could now participate in shooting competitions all
over the world particularly the African Championship, the Commonwealth
Games and the Olympic Games, in a minimum of eight categories.
Madariola-Olumide stated, “With the
acquisition of the modern shooting equipment, for the use of the
marksmen of the DSS shooting team and the national shooting team,
Nigeria will not suffer such embarrassment as it happened during the
last Commonwealth Games in Glasgow in 2014.
“The
decision came after five operatives of the DSS joined the shooting team
to get their first set of medals in an international competition. With
the DSS consent that we can make use of these weapons and accessories
during our national and international shooting competitions; the
federation will not suffer in at least eight shooting events.”
The NSF boss appealed to other armed
forces and agencies to emulate the DSS and help their officers in honing
their shooting skills when they are off duty.
